Before the Session Begins...

Before your photo session, there’s usually just a bit of simple planning to make sure everything runs smoothly. This may include confirming the time and location, along with any small details needed for the session. There’s no need to overprepare or have everything perfectly planned out ahead of time. Arriving a few minutes early, dressed and ready, is often all that’s needed. The goal is to keep the experience relaxed from the very beginning so you can ease into the session without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

Getting Comfortable in Front of the Camera

It’s completely normal to feel a little unsure at the beginning of a photo session. Most people don’t spend much time in front of a camera, so there’s no expectation to know how to pose or what to do. Throughout the session, I’ll guide you through everything in a natural and easy way, from simple prompts to small adjustments, so you’re never left wondering what comes next. The first few minutes are usually just about getting comfortable, and before long, it starts to feel less about the camera and more about simply being present in the moment.

How the Session Flows

Photo sessions are meant to feel easy and unhurried. We typically start with a few simple poses to get comfortable, then gradually move into more natural movement and interaction. Throughout the session, there will be gentle direction, but nothing overly structured or rigid. We’ll make small adjustments as we go, using different angles, spots, and moments to create variety without overcomplicating things. The goal is to keep everything flowing naturally so the experience feels relaxed while still capturing a mix of classic and candid images. I am just your best friend and we are going to spend an hour laughing and having fun together.

Letting Moments Happen Naturally

A photo session isn’t just about getting pictures it’s about taking time to capture you, your friends, your significant other, or your family in this season of life. The more personality you bring into it, the more meaningful and memorable the photos will be. As the session unfolds, there’s space to relax, interact, and just enjoy being together. The goal isn’t to walk away feeling like you checked something off a list, but to look back at your photos and remember how fun that day felt not just that you took pictures.
